Heavy Duty Weedmat / 100% Blockout Scrim

Heavy-duty woven polypropylene weedmat suitable for landscaping applications and for use as full blockout scrim on temporary fencing.

When used as temporary fence screening, the dense black woven material provides effectively 100% visual blockout, making it a cost-effective alternative to standard 90% shade cloth where maximum privacy is required.

It is well suited to construction sites, compounds, storage areas and other locations where visual separation is more important than airflow.

Features

  • Heavy-duty woven polypropylene construction
  • Effectively 100% visual blockout
  • Cost-effective alternative to standard 90% blockout shade cloth
  • Suitable for temporary fencing and site perimeter screening
  • Suitable for construction, civil works and storage compounds
  • Durable and reusable when handled correctly
  • Easy to cut to required lengths
  • Can be secured using cable ties or other suitable fixings
  • Also suitable for conventional weed-control applications

Cost-Effective Full Blockout Screening

For sites requiring high privacy without the additional cost of conventional high-density shade cloth, weedmat provides a practical alternative.

While standard 90% shade cloth still allows some visibility and airflow through the material, this product provides effectively complete visual screening.

Suitable applications include:

  • Construction site privacy
  • Screening stored materials and equipment
  • Site perimeter screening
  • Temporary compounds
  • Separating work areas from public areas
  • Areas requiring full visual blockout

Wind Loading and Bracing

Because full-blockout weedmat has very low permeability, it creates significantly higher wind loading than lighter screening products.

Tower Temporary Fencing recommends treating it as a high wind-loading attachment.

Recommended practical bracing:

  • Brace at least every 2nd temporary fence panel
  • Use additional ballast at braced locations
  • Ensure all panels are correctly connected with suitable clamps
  • Provide additional support at ends, corners and gates
  • Increase bracing on exposed, coastal, elevated or public-facing sites
  • Inspect fencing, ties, clamps, feet and braces after strong winds or impacts
  • Remove or lower the screening where wind conditions create an unacceptable risk

Important

Full-blockout screening can create substantial wind pressure on temporary fencing.

Customers are responsible for confirming that the fencing system, bracing, ballast and screening arrangement are suitable for the intended site conditions.

Tower’s bracing recommendations are general practical guidance only and do not constitute site-specific engineering or temporary works design.
